BORN IN THE BACKWOODS OF HURRICANE MILLS NEAR HER NEIGHBOR LORETTA LYNN, MAE GREW UP ON HER GRANDADDY'S FARM IN HURRICANE MILLS RUNNING BAREFOOT AND FREE THROUGH THE STREAMS OF TUMBLING CREEK AND HILLS OF TN WHERE HER LOVE OF THE WILDERNESS TURNED INTO PASSION TO PROTECT HER CRITTERS AND AN HONORS BIOLOGY DEGREE.
HER BELOVED TUMBLING CREEK WAS THE FODDER FOR THE WRITERS OF HEE HAW....SHE THOUGHT ALMOST EVERYONE ELSE HAD CORN FIELDS FOR FRONT YARDS TOO FOR QUITE SOME TIME.
SHE WORKED AS A CARTOGRAPHER AND THEN AS A HIGH SCHOOL SCIENCE TEACHER IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY,TN BUT FEELING A CALL TO DO MORE, SHE RELOCATED TO NASHVILLE TO WORK AS AN ANALYST IN AN ENVIRONMENTAL TESTING LAB.
DISCOURAGED BY THE REALITY OF THE INDUSTRY, SHE WAS SNATCHED UP BY THE WORLD'S FIRST SUPERMODEL, MODEL, ACTRESS AND AUTHOR, JENNIFER O'NEILL, WHO WAS NEARLY HER MOM-IN-LAW AT THE TIME-WITH THE THE SMITHSONIAN RECORD HOLDING COVERGIRL DIRECTING HER DAYS, MAE QUICKLY LEARNED BRANDING, WEB & LOGO DESIGN, AND HOW TO DO DAMN NEAR ANYTHING, INCLUDING BUILDING AN EQUESTRIAN'S PARADISE, HOPE AND HEALING AT HILLENGLADE.
SIMULTANEOUSLY SHE BECAME THE WEB & SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER AND TALENT BUYER FOR JEN'S HUSBAND AT THE HISTORIC DOUGLAS CORNER CAFE. THIS PIQUED HER INTEREST IN LIVE EVENT PRODUCTION, AND SOON SHE WAS PRODUCING FUNDRAISERS AND DEVELOPING HER OWN BRAND FOR HER DOWN-HOME ECLECTIC: BUCKSNORT BEAUTIES.
OVERHEARD IN JOLENE KAY'S KITCHEN, SHE WAS RECRUITED INTO A BAND BY REBECCA JED, AND THE TWO FOUND THEY SOUNDED LIKE SISTERS WHEN THEY SANG, AND THE TUNES THE WROTE BLENDED BETTER THAN YOUR FAVORITE BOURBON. THEY HAD A BLAST PERFORMING WITH OR FUNDRAISING FOR CHARITIES WITH AMAZING ARTIST'S SUCH AS LILLIE MAE & THE RISCHE FAMILY, GREG GARING, ALABAMA SHAKES, SHOVEL AND ROPE, MARGO PRICE, DEE0GEE (AS WORLD'S GREATEST EAGLE SCOUTS) AND TOO MANY TALENTED ARTISTS TO LIST.
Simultaneously mae was recruited into the world's first and only all female southern rock group, queen of the south, where she performed for the van zants at thunder Beach, fl. shortly thereafter, as they were on the cusp of touring with blackberry smoke, her friend and band leader, barbara dorris sadly passed from cancer before they finished recording the album of original tracks and those with permission to perform from the artist/writer including outlaw, by Chris Gantry. They last performed at hard rock memphis, just before barb was given 6 months to live.
MAE COWROTE & COPRODUCED JED'S WILDFIRE AND MOONSHINE AND SANG HARMONY THROUGHOUT WITH JOLENE BEFORE MAE AND JED WERE NOMINATED FOR BEST OUTLAW GROUP 2018 FOR THE AMERIPOLITAN AWARDS AN....WITHOUT EVER RELEASING THE TRACKS! JED RELOCATED TO AR, AND MAE KICKED BACK TO HICKMAN COUNTY, TN HOME OF HER ANCESTORS AND DISTANT RELATIVE JOHNNY CASH. CENTERVILLE, TN IS ALSO THE HOME OF THE BELOVED MINNIE PEARL, AND THERE AIN'T NO PLACE MAE'D RATHER BE.
SHE BOUGHT HER DREAM HOME FROM FORMER MISS TN 1992, AND THOUGH MANY HAVE TRIED TO COAX HER BACK TO NASH, MAE HAS HUNG HER HAT AND NO LONGER PERFORMS. MUCH LIKE HER SPIRIT ANIMAL, BOBBY GENTRY, SHE IS AS ELUSIVE AS A COPPERHEAD IN A PILE OF AUTUMN LEAVES. MAYBE ONE DAY SHE'LL WRITE ABOUT IT....MAE B.
